Event Generation

When possible it is best to generate events within Athena, using the official JobTransforms. In this way it is easy to guarantee that ATLAS default generator level settings are taken into account correctly. Here is an example how to produce AODs with Pythia evgen information and Truth jets:

  • setup for running Athena (local Athena, see here, lxplus: see ATLAS workbook)
  • for r14 nothing else needs to be done in order to run JobTransforms; you can see the available transforms by typing:
trf_ls
and for the JobTransform description and usage type:
ThatJobTransformName -h 
For generating Pythia ttbar events you need joboptions file (called say MC8.10.f_pythia_val_ttbar.py):
