ACCOMODATION HOTELS: A full list of hotel
arrangements can be found at booking.com.
We have arranged special prices for workshop participants in two hotels
located in the center of Ljubljana. These are upper class Best Western Premier Hotel Slon Ljubljana
(Registration Form for Trento Workshop pdf,
doc) and middle class Hotel Park (Registration Form for Trento Workshop pdf , docx). Both hotels
are just few minutes walk from the old town. The number of rooms in these
hotels is limited so book as soon as possible. The hotel rates are often
subject of special offers therefore we highly recommend also to check with
different booking providers and directly at the hotel page if something
cheaper is available during your stay. Prices: Best Western Premier Hotel Slon Ljubljana
**** single room 101 EUR, double room
116 EUR (breakfast included). Hotel
Park *** , single room
55 EUR/night, double/twin room 66 EUR/night (breakfast included). The budget hotels in
Ljubljana are scarce or sometimes further from the center ( BIT (single 35 EUR,
double 46 EUR) ). HOSTELS: Another interesting spot would be
»Hostel celica«
a lonely planet award winning hostel which is a former prison changed to
hostel – a unique experience. It has an online booking service. B&B In the city center there is a mid
class B&B Mrak,
close to the institute Katrca. APPARTMENTS: Different apartments are available here: http://www.apartmaji.si/ . VISA Slovenia is a
member of Schengen Europe. How to get visa if it is needed? GETTING HERE AND AWAY Train: Unlike in most western countries train in Slovenia is the cheapest mean of public transportation. Information about the arrival and departure in domestic lines can be found here and about the international lines in the DB page. Trains are safe and relatively punctuate. The tickets should be purchased at the train stations. If bought in the train there is a surcharge, unless the train has been boarded outside working hours. Bus: Eurolines
servers Ljubljana from major European countries. Plane: Amadeus
can be used to book flights to Ljubljana. The public
transportation and taxis (see below) from and to the airport are
available. The drop off place is main train station in Ljubljana. Address:
Jamova 39, 1000 Ljubljana Walking: Institute is located on walking
distance (1.5 km. 20 minutes) from the centre
of Ljubljana and around 3 km
from the main
train and bus station. Here are the walking paths from Park
hotel , City
Hotel, or Slon
(Best Western). Private
Car: Most
convenient exit from the motorway is to »Ljubljana Zahod« (Ljubljana
West) which leads to the »Tržaška cesta« the main road to the city center. At
the junction with »Jadranska cesta« turn right and at the first traffic
lights turn right to »Jamova cesta«. The main entrance to the institute is
after 100 m on your left. Please report to the stuff at the gate and they
will direct you further. Bus: The bus network can be found here . The most ideal is to take a bus line 1 in the direction Mestni log (»1 Mestni Log«) and get off the bus at stop »Jamova«. Another option is bus number 6, but the bus stop is somewhat further. Details how to come from bus stations to the institute are shown on this map. Many new busses
have a LED display showing the next bus stop. The use of busses is easy, but
the purchase of tickets is a bit more complicated. The buses can not be paid
with cash. You should buy a prepaid card called »Urbana« which you can buy at
any newspaper shop (also at train station). The card cost you 2EUR and each
ride lasting 90 min with as many bus changes as needed 1.2 EUR. Please ask to
guy selling the card to load the desired amount of rides. Taxi: Ljubljana has numerous taxi
services which should all be indicated on the car. In general taxi is considered not too
expensive. They should all be equipped with taximeter and should give you the
receipt upon request. The most convenient are on-call taxi services which
speak English. As you will be probably picked up at well known places there
should be no problem. The two of the biggest are Metro-Taxi (tel. +386 41 240 200) and Intertours (tel. +386 31
311 311). The phone calls to these
numbers (or any other) from a EU mobile phone should be around 0.4 EUR/min.
The typical fare is 0.79EUR/km with a starting fee of 0.9 EUR. As distances
are quite short the taxi is a very competitive mean of transportation in
Ljubljana, particularly when shared. These two taxi services can also be used
to call a taxi to the Ljubljana airport, which is 25 km north from Ljubljana.
If called upon arrival to the airport the waiting time for them to pick you
up is around 20 min. The fare from there to the Institute is around 20-30
EUR. The regular taxi at the airport with upper class cars is double that
price. CLIMATE |
