Early stage researcher position available
at the J. Stefan Institute for the research on the particle
identification system for the BELLE II detector.
We are looking for a young experimental physicist, ready to participate in
research training as an early-stage researcher (3.5-year position). The
research work will lead to the award of a PhD.
The research will be carried out within the upgrade of
the Belle spectrometer to Belle II at KEK, Tsukuba, Japan. The Belle II
collaboration is one of the best known research groups in particle physics; its
predecessor, the Belle experiment, has significantly contributed to the
experimental confirmation of the Kobayashi-Maskawa
mechanism of CP violation, for which the Nobel prize
was awarded in 2008. The early stage researcher will focus his/her research in
on the commissioning of the proximity focusing ring
imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detector, on the data taking with the Belle
spectrometer and on the analysis of recorded data.
The
candidates should send a CV, a list of exams and a copy of the diploma or
master certificate to peter.krizan @ ijs.si. They
should also arrange for two letters of reference to be sent to the same email
address.
The deadline for applications is Aug 18, 2016.
