Postdoc position available for R+D on photon detectors for a compact positron emission tomography apparatus at the J. Stefan Institute

The detector development lab of the Experimental particle physics department (F9)  at the J. Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia,  has a postdoctoral position available for research work on novel photon detectors for positron emission (PET) tomography. The research is closely linked to the other main activity of the lab, studies of an aerogel RICH, an upgrade  of the particle identification system  in the forward direction of the BELLE spectrometer.

The postdoc is expected to work on all main topics of the project, from the detector R+D to simulation of the detector response and optimisation of the counter parameters. He/she is  expected to have hardware experience, in particular in detector R+D, read-out electronics  and data acquisition with PC based systems. The position is for two years.

The candidate should have a PhD in physics or the equivalent.  He/she should mail the curriculum vitae, publication list and the names and email addresses of two referees (or arrange for two letters of reference to be sent to the address below).

The position is open until filled.
