From 1 to 4 May 2026, Ljubljana hosted the 31st meeting of the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG), a global collaboration dedicated to science communication and outreach in particle physics. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Experimental Particle Physics (F9) at the Jožef Stefan Institute.
The local organisation was led by our colleagues Dr Tadej Novak, Slovenia's representative to IPPOG, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Marko Bračko, the Belle II experiment representative within IPPOG. A significant contribution was also made by Dr Anja Kranjc Horvat, a Slovenian member of the CERN outreach team, who together with Dr Steven Goldfarb coordinates IPPOG activities internationally.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen connections within the particle physics outreach community, exchange ideas and best practices, and discuss future outreach initiatives. Participants presented a wide range of successful activities aimed at bringing modern particle physics closer to students, teachers, and the general public.
The successful organisation of the meeting highlights the active role of the Slovenian particle physics community in international science outreach and further enhances the visibility of both the Department of Experimental Particle Physics (F9) and the Jožef Stefan Institute within the global particle physics community.
