Some semiconductor detectors (e.g. silicon) are representing a highly developed technology, widely used in the field of experimental particle physics and ready to be to transfedred to other fields of usage. Thus one part of the proposed project represents a logical development of existing research, dedicated to the technology transfer to the field of nuclear imaging, where our goal is to produce a pre-clinical demonstrator. The second part of the proposed project is dedicated to the further development of the silicon detectors, but also to the research of new semicinductor materials, which may prove superior for some given fields of use.
